How They Met
Hilary started working at Prairie Lakes Church in April 2018 as Missions Coordinator and Tim had been working there for about eight months as Web and Social Media Coordinator. A twenty-minute onboarding meeting designed to learn and collaborate about how their departments could work together turned into an hour and a half of getting to know each other. They found many things in common and their interest for each other was piqued. Over the next few months, they found themselves going out of their way to have face-to-face “work meetings” instead of simple email conversations.
In August, after torturing himself for months, Tim finally gathered the courage to ask Hilary out for a date. Before he could even finish the sentence, Hilary blurted out “I’d love to!” Their first two dates were spent closing down Sidecar Coffee and Greenhouse Kitchen followed by watching fireworks. Conversations flowed easy and they felt themselves longing to spend more and more time together as they grew closer.
While studying the book of 1st Corinthians together, Tim and Hilary came across the topic of marriage and began talking about spending the rest of their lives together. God made it clear to both of them this is what He had planned, which had been their individual prayer for years. They believe God has brought them together to love and serve Him and one another. Over the next few weeks, they continued to talk about marriage and seek God’s direction.
Tim and Hilary decorated their first Christmas tree together at the PLC Creative Studio for a background for online Church. They “had” to take down the decorations on Wednesday, January 2 according to Tim. As they got through deconstructing the artificial tree, Tim began to sweat nervously, thinking Hilary wouldn’t see the ring. He decided to get on one knee and remove the tape that was securing the base of the tree-stand. “That’s weird, why in the world is he kneeling on one knee to do that?”, thought Hilary. As she looked at him she finally saw the ring box placed at the base of the tree. After this, everything was a blur but Hilary said “YES!”
We are excited to see what adventures God will take us on together as we serve Him!
